DIY Makeup Storage

A quick and easy Do-It-Yourself makeup storage Are you tired of your makeup rattling around your draw? Why not create a unique and personalised makeup storage with only a few things, found around the house! To make this handy storage for your makeup you will need:   a shoe box a small box with its' lid (or four cardboard dividers to make two sections) scissors a roll of tape (and glue if needed) covering paper of your choice (you can use craft tape or gift wrap like I did)     1. Firstly decide how you want to arrange your small boxes or cardboard dividers to make two small sections.     2. When you are happy with where you want your sections to go, take them out and start covering them and your shoe box with craft tape or wrapping paper.     3. Then secure your small box and lid inside the shoe box with tape or glue.     4. Now for the fun part! Sorting your makeup into the sections.

L'Oreal Colour Riche 373 Magnetic Coral Lipstick Review

I went out shopping the other day and I was casually browsing the makeup aisles and I came across this lipstick. I used the tester to swatch and I was blown away by both the colour and it's creamy texture. I absouletly love the colour of this lipstick, which is a beautiful coral shade and is very pigmented. The packaging is sleek and modern, and the use of the gold exterior gives this lipstick a high-end feel. This lipstick is very moisturising and glides on so easy without clinging to the slightly dry parts of my lips. I am not surprised that this lipstick is so moisturising as L'Oreal state that all the lipsticks in their Colour Riche selection are  'enriched with a combination of Omega-3 and Vitamin E and leaves your lips feeling moisturised'.   L'Oreal Colour Riche 373 Magnetic Coral Swatch    If you haven't got a coral coloured lipstick or you feel like having a slightly more moisturising one then have a look at this L'Oreal lipst

Determine your skin's undertone

Determining your skin's undertone is not as difficult as you might think. When you know what your skin's undertone is, it becomes so easy to pick up the right shade of foundation as well as knowing which lipstick shades/tones will compliment your more. You will be much better off knowing your undertone. The three types of skin undertones are cool, warm and neutral. There are many different ways that can be used to determine your undertone. I have found that the most effective way of determining your skin's u ndertone is by looking at the colour of your veins on the inside of your wrists. This post will show you how to find out which undertone you have!  Cool undertones Your wrist veins appear blue/purple in natural lighting You can burn easily in the sun Colours that flatter you are: red, navy blue, hot pink, plums, black and soft pastel colours If you have a cool undertone your skin will have more of a 'pinkish or blue' tone to it. Take care of your lips!

Welcome Winter! One thing that the cold Winter months are guaranteed to bring is chapped, dry and cracked lips. This is both uncomfortable and can be unattractive. The best way to avoid this look is to regularly apply some form of lip care like a chapstick or a lip balm. This is important to do after you eat or drink anything and before you go to bed. My preferred lip care is using either my Coca-Cola Cherry Lip Balm or one of my Maybelline Baby Lips one.   However, all is not lost and dry lips can be minimised or even prevented by r egularly exfoliating your lips. This is because it helps to keep them smooth and crack free. One of my previous blog posts explains how to do this using Vaseline. If you want to see it click here . Don't forget to take extra care of your lips.

Christmas Bargains?

Well it's December and we all know what that means. Santa is just around the corner with goodies for us all! Over the last month I have seen some great makeup bargains appear on various sites and at various shops. I will admit I have fallen for these special bargains and the idea of the 3 for 2 offers across all cosmetics makes me weak at the knees. I just can not seem to get enough! Some have argued that the cosmetic companies our targeting our need to search for a bargain especially at this time of the year. If you ask me I do not mind getting three fantastic creamy Rimmel lipsticks for the price of two. Would you? The bottom line is-  just be aware of how much you're spending as you don't want to have a shock come January's credit card bill. We all love makeup but remember to shop wisely!

MUA Pouty Pink Matte Lipstick Review

I wanted to try out a matte lipstick and decided to try one of MUA's, as I love most of their products. I decided to try out 'Pouty Pink' which is available online for £1 !   I have to say that this has become my 'go to' lipstick and I cannot live without it! The colour is amazing and it has good staying power.     As you can see from the swatch the lipstick is a coral-pink colour and can be applied sheer to give a slight pink tint to the lips or applied fully.   Pros: matte texture lovely coral-pink great price!   Cons: as it is a matte lipstick it can be very drying due to its matte texture it can cause lips to crack, but this can be prevented if you apply a light layer of lip balm before you apply the lipstick       This lipstick is very popular and does go out of stock quickly. So if you want one get in quick!   MUA Pouty Pink Matte Lipstick available online for £1

Sunscreen before or after makeup?

With it being a scorching summer, our need to apply sunscreen has increased. However, when it comes to sunscreen and makeup which one comes first? A few weeks ago my younger cousin asked me whether she should put sunscreen on before or after applying her makeup. This got me thinking and realised that many people are not sure of this.   The simple answer is to ALWAYS apply sunscreen (SPF 15 minimum!) before applying a primer/moisturiser, or any kind of face makeup, especially if your moisturiser or foundation does not contain any SPF. This is because in order for your sunscreen to protect your skin, and be most effective, it needs to be in direct contact with your skin. There is simply no point of piling on makeup first then applying sunscreen hoping it will 'work', because it simply won't.   Hope this has been helpful! Don't forget your SPF!

2True Glossywear Lipstick Shade 2 Review

I was after a glossy, creamy baby pink lipstick and it took me a while to find a nice one that wouldn't break the bank! I decided to try 2True Glossywear Lipstick Shade 2 , as I was enticed by it's claim of a 'silky smooth glossy formula'. When the lipstick arrived (I ordered it online ), I immediately liked the  sleek black and silver packaging which gives the impression that the lipstick is expensive.     I was also impressed by the swatch and the lipstick's high pigment!   Swatch After seeing the swatch I was sure I was on to a winner. However, when I applied the lipstick to my lips I noticed that it was very sheer (needs two to three layers) and too glittery! I think that perhaps when 2True mean glossy, they mean glittery (or at least in this case!). Although I will put this to the test and try another Glossywear Lipstick very soon. I would not describe this lipstick as glossy, but it is definitely more towards the shimmery spec

I love trying out new nail polish colours, from bright to dark I adore them all. I was also impressed with the 'drying time', as it was unexpectedly fast!.   I love this nail polish and I recommend that you do get your hands on it!

Maybelline Baby Lips Review

Do you want baby soft lips?   So I wanted to try Maybelline's Baby Lips lip balm as I have heard all the hype on blogs and YouTube and needed to test them out for myself. Maybelline offers six Baby Lips lip balms  in total, three of which are coloured (Pink Punch, Cherry Me, Peach Kiss ) and three colourless ones ( Hydrate, Repair, Mint Fresh ). They all claim to be moisturising and provide 8 hours of hydration. However, I decided to pick up two first, just in case I did not like them, so opted for two of the 'coloured balms' as I would rather have a subtle hint of colour on my lips instead of none. I chose  'Cherry Me' and 'Pink Punch' . LEFT: 'Cherry Me'             RIGHT: 'Pink Punch' Packaging I love the use of bold, bright, eye-catching colours which makes it easy to spot them from other products. I also like the clever font that Maybelline chose to put on their lip balms, and across their whole 'Baby' range,

Coca Cola Cherry Lip Smacker Review

Amazing smell!     Since secondary school (I'm now 21) I have been using my trusted Coco Cola Cherry Lip Balm! I honestly don't know where I would be without it! It used to be £1 at Primark (I stocked up!) now I can never seem to find it there, which is a shame. However, it can be found in Tesco but at £2.50.  Why I love this lip balm? it has a red hint of colour it is hydrating, especially in the Winter months it also has the most amazing cherry smell, which does in fact smell like Coco Cola Cherry! Although it doesn't taste like it though! (Don't worry, I don't go round eating lip balms!). Swatch Coco Cola Cherry Lip Smacker- single swatch If you can get your hands on this get it! You will not be disappointed, let me know if you do. I would love to hear if you love this as much as I do!   Available online in a set of 6 (including other 'flavours') for £9.99!

Collection Lasting Gel Colour Nail Varnish Review

I was in Boots the other day just casually browsing the makeup aisles (whilst I let my mum have all the fun shopping for a baking tray!). I noticed that they had a '2 for £5' offer on the Collection Lasting Gel Colour Nail Varnish.  Now my nails were not in the best of shape (a little warning for the photo to come!) but I really wanted to try a gel nail varnish.   I decided to pick up two nail varnishes; one a pretty, coral-salmon colour (called Watermelon 6) that was screaming to be in my nail varnish collection and a glossy clear varnish (called Crystal Clear 1).  I haven't tried the clear varnish yet but I presume it will be just as good as the Watermelon one. I love the 'easy wide brush' applicator as it makes applying a coat of nail varnish so, well easy! Pros: the nail varnishes come in a variety of colours great gel consistency amazing long lasting shine  wide brush applicator good chip-resistance Cons: nor
